Eco Fashion Week- Vancouver

So this week was Vancouver Fashion Week and I was blessed with the chance to work with the designers and production team and It was, to say the least Exciting, Vigorous and incredible. I worked with many of the designers such as Nicole Bridger, Downtown Betty and Prophetik with designer Jeff Garner. Before the shows started it was calm and everything went on smoothly and correctly. But as soon as the show begun and the dressers were at work, everything went in fast motion! Clothes were being ripped out of models, everyone was trying to do everything in record timing, and designers were flipping their weaves! The rush however was exhilarating, with good vibes, everyone working hand in hand to get the show to go as smoothly as possible and it all worked well.

Van- Style

You don't see people like this much in Vancouver so when I noticed her Exaggerated puff coat in True Vintage on Robson street, I had to take a picture! only a few people could carry the coat off well enough and I think she did it alright. Even though I would have loved to see some sort of heels or wedged boots. But overall the coat is gorgeous, VERY unique, and perfect for the Canadian weather.

I like this outfit, its has a sense of class to it, I'm a big fan of Maxi skirts and granny knitted jumpers so both together is a big YES for me.

It was a day of all black, so I thought I should Chic it up a little bit with a maxi skirt and my new bag. One thing I did make a mistake on however, was not wearing heels.  

Can Do Art! How Cool is this?!!!

So this week in my marketing class, we talked about Red Bull and how they inject themselves into almost all energy related sports or events that (which makes sense since it is an energy drink). It remembered me of an article I read about Red Bull’s Art of Can competition. I was dumbfounded by the sheer creativity of each participant and how Red Bull actually came up with an idea like this! I mean what other beverage company would think of mixing art and creativity with their products?

The article I read (the red bulletin) read: “having made its way around the world for more than a decade, the Red Bull Art of Can has unleashed a totally different sort of art onto the world by mixing creativity with thousands of Red Bull cans” the rules for this competition are simple, you can make anything you want but you are only allowed to use the blue and silver cans. The winner/s would be decided by the creativity of their finals pieces. The competition has taken place in many American states such as Dallas, Miami, Chicago and recently moved to Singapore and the Caribbean. 



Aml Keeling, a Canadian artist saw this project as
a way to create her own recyling project. Taking
over three weeks to construct, 18 Red Bull cans
were cut into pieces and layered over an actual
skates then sealed with epoxy coating.

These are my favourites for obvious reasons. I love the creativity in the garments.

The utter talent amongst these people shocked me! It was creative, enthusiastic, intriguing to look at and wonder “how they did it” and some were even funny. Participants are of different ages and background, professional and amateurs, from high school to business people, delivery men, teachers, lawyers and many more. I can’t imagine how many hours these participant dedicated to each sculpture but all I have to say it I salute them!

L.A.M.B Fall 2011- Gwen Stefani New York Fashion Week

I didn't pay much attention to Gwen Stefani or her brand till I saw her collection for the New York Fashion Week. I was quite impressed, clean cut, sophisticated with a hint of heritage. I especially love the bag and dress, certainly something I can see myself and many other people wearing. More on the collection from the Huffington post link below.

Fashion Findings- Here, There and Everywhere!

 

My favourite Purchase of the week- American Eagle Tan boots- $80
Its comfortable, warm, versatile and its Tan! you can't ever go wrong. I look forward to wearing it for the first time.

Van-Style

 Met this girl in the ever so Popular Starbuck on Robson Street, I was first attracted to her bright blond hair (Unfortunately my camera didn't capture it too well) Then i noticed her bag, then her shoes. And I loved it all.... I'm not sure where she got the bag or shoes from but she was kind enough to allow me to take a picture of her. One for the Vancouver styles...



 Leggings- Aritizia. I'm not too sure whether I am brave enough to wear them but I know quite a lot of people that would. So I snaped it.....



Simple, stylish and quiky..... I love it.

  

 

Another Robson Street find- I like the messed up "I'm in a hurry, what can I wear look" This style of quiky style is something I dont see much in Vancouver.



I noticed this lady's jumper and I rememberd! I have seen this before, from another country! turns out she got it from ASOS, a Rarity in Vancouver
